Voices of Resilience is a book of poetry featuring an intergenerational group of seventeen contributors, both new and veteran poets alike, from around the world. The book is divided into five sections that reflect upon grief, unrest, acceptance, renewal, and hope. Ultimately, the book seeks to represent a spectrum of personal experiences and stories behind broad social issues. With project funding from the SMU Caswell Leadership Program, Human Rights major Lamisa Mustafa '21 collaborated with editor, Syd Clark '18 and illustrator, Mariana Gonzalez '19 to create Voices of Resilience for its first printing in 2018. To express her gratitude to SMU Human Rights and support the creative endeavors of future students, Lamisa is donating all proceeds from the sale of the book's second printing to the program. She says, "Thank you for supporting this labor of love and a community that constantly inspires me to build authentic and lasting solidarity across differences and historical divisions. The SMU Human Rights Program is my chosen family and the reason I decided to apply to and attend SMU in the first place.
