Join Dr. O. Wesley Allen, Jr. for a one-day workshop that will equip participants with a method of preparation that they can use for the rest of their preaching ministries. By the end of the day, participants will have the skeleton of a sermon for an upcoming Sunday.

Topics covered:

  • Interpreting a Scripture passage for preaching
  • Choosing one theme for the sermon that is theologically sound, fitting to the congregation, and faithful to the text in context
  • Choosing a sermon form that moves from itch to scratch
  • Honing our attentiveness to imagery, story, and scene in Scripture and life
  • Developing effective techniques for delivering the sermon appropriate to the preacher’s character, personality, and context
