North Carolina Immersion, July 27 - 31, Dr. Michael Beck and Dr. Elaine Heath

GTE Immersion Courses are regular academic courses taught off-campus in culturally complex situations. Students are expected to pay for their tuition, fees, and any travel costs. Travel stipends are available, and an application can be made below.

Students enrolling in this course will need to consult the faculty leader for details concerning readings, assignments, and specific travel requirements related to physical disabilities.

Please note that the class begins on July 27 with dinner at 6 pm. If students can coordinate their arrival times reasonably close together, the Spring Forest office can arrange a bus pickup for $20. Car rentals and ride shares are options as well. Class will conclude at noon on July 31; students should be able to book a return flight for that afternoon or evening. Students will be responsible for making and coordinating their own transport arrangements to and from Spring Forest, North Carolina.

Students should plan to fly into the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

The full cost of room, board, and site related fees is expected to be $1200 plus travel to and from the immersion site.

Travel stipend grants are not related to other financial aid awards.

Travel stipends for this immersion cover room, board, and other site related fees from July 6 to 11.

They do not cover the cost of travel to and from the location, which is the student’s responsibility.

Travel stipends will be granted on the basis of need, as determined solely by the student’s FAFSA information.

FAFSA applications may be found at:  https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

Students may request that their FAFSA be amended if it does not reflect their current financial circumstances.

Travel stipend decisions may not be appealed.

I am requesting a travel stipend from the GTE program.

I understand that this may not cover the full cost of travel, nor does it cover tuition and course fees.
