ISSS Trips

The International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) invites you to join us in celebrating your achievements at the International Graduation Celebration on Wednesday, May 14th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Martha Proctor Mack Grand Ballroom (Umphrey Lee Building).

This special event recognizes the accomplishments of graduating international students in a meaningful and celebratory setting. Graduates will have the opportunity to walk the stage and receive their international graduation stole, featuring the flag of their home country. A dinner reception will be provided by SMU Catering, offering a time to reflect on your journey with fellow graduates.

We invite you to share this special occasion with your loved ones—friends, family, and professors. As a graduate, you are responsible for inviting and purchasing tickets for your guests.

While this is a celebratory event hosted by ISSS and not an official commencement ceremony, graduates are welcome to wear their regalia if they choose. The dress code for this event is business casual or formal attire.

The deadline to purchase an international graduation stole is April 20th.
The deadline to purchase a ticket for the celebration is May 7th.
Tickets for the event are $5 per person, and the cost of an international graduation stole is $20.

Join us for a trip to the Social Security Administration (SSA) to apply for your Social Security Number (SSN) on March 31st. We meet in front of the Blanton building at 9:30 am to travel to the SSA. The $5.00 covers your transportation from SMU to the SSA and back! Register quickly as spots fill up fast!

Join ISSS for a trip to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Wednesday, April 2! Apply for your Driver's License or State ID at this expedited appointment. This trip has no charge as we will be taking Uber Rideshares to and from SMU to DPS. Registering confirms you will have an appointment. Spots fill up quickly, so act fast! 

We will meet in front of the Blanton building no later than 1:15 p.m. to arrive at the DPS in time for your 2:00 p.m. appointments. The estimated return time is no later than 4:30 p.m.

🚨 Important Policy: If you cancel less than three days before the trip, you will lose the privilege of joining the next DPS trip. Please only register if you are certain you can attend to ensure fairness for all student
