New Exchange Visitor Maintenance Fee
All new exchange visitors will pay a fee of $200.00 in order to receive a DS2019 from the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office for visa processing. This is an administrative fee that supports the services provided by the ISSS Office and SEVIS data reporting requirements. Please be sure to print out a copy of the receipt, attach to Post-Completion/STEM Extension OPT I-20 Request (along with all application materials required) and submit to ISSS office for processing. If you have issues while making your payment, then please email a screenshot or picture of the error message to nelnet@mail.smu.edu and copy isss@smu.edu on the email. Nelnet will respond to your email within 1-2 business days.
OPT-SEVIS Maintenance Fee
OPT SEVIS Maintenance Fee is due to the ISSS office for services rendered during the Post-Completion/STEM Extension OPT period. International Graduation Celebration
International Graduation Celebration
The International Office invites you to join us in celebrating your achievements at the International Graduation Celebration on Wednesday, May 14th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Laura Lee Blanton Building.
This special event recognizes the accomplishments of graduating international students in a meaningful and celebratory setting. Graduates will have the opportunity to walk the stage and receive their international graduation stole, featuring the flag of their home country. A reception will be provided, offering time to reflect on your journey and celebrate with fellow graduates, family, and friends.
We invite you to share this special occasion with your loved ones—friends, family, and professors. As a graduate, you are responsible for inviting and purchasing tickets for your guests. Please note there is a limit of three tickets per graduate, including the graduate and up to two guests.
While this is a celebratory event hosted by the International Office and not an official commencement ceremony, graduates are welcome to wear their regalia if they choose. The dress code for this event is business casual or formal attire.
The deadline to purchase an international graduation stole is April 22th.
The deadline to purchase a ticket for the celebration is April 23th.
Tickets for the event are $5 per person, and the cost of an international graduation stole is $15.

SMU Summer Immersion: Language, Culture & Connection
SMU’s Summer Language and Culture Immersion Program offers a unique opportunity to strengthen English communication skills while engaging with SMU campus and surrounding community. Through interactive coursework, on-campus experiences, and guided excursions, participants will develop global competencies in a supportive, intellectually enriching environment.
FC Dallas Trip
Tickets include transportation from SMU to the FC Dallas stadium and back to SMU, as well as admission to the FC Dallas vs LA Galaxy match.
Please note: tickets are non-refundable.
Join us for an exciting Major League Soccer match as FC Dallas takes on LA Galaxy! Experience the energy of a live professional soccer game, cheer alongside fellow Mustangs, and enjoy a fun night out with the International Office community.
The game will take place on the evening of Saturday, April 18. We will meet at the Laura Lee Blanton building at 5:00 PM and travel together via private transportation to the stadium.
Registration is valid for SMU students and their dependents only. Each individual participant must complete their own registration.
