This virtual class is taught by Dr. Alyce McKenzie, Le Van Professor of Preaching and Worship at Perkins School of Theology and
Co-director of the Perkins Center for Preaching Excellence at SMU. Experiential Preaching serves as the foundational class for the Certificate in Preaching Excellence, and it is the one required class that must be taken at some point in the program.

For proclamation of God’s good news to be transformative for congregations, sermons must engage not only the mind but also the heart. In this class, participants will explore the different tasks of sermon preparation through the lens of inviting hearers to experience the gospel personally instead of only learning about it from a distance.
